Today, we said good-bye to our beloved Jaine. She and John spent almost 17 years together, and we'd been together as a family of three since 2003.

Last autumn, Jaine celebrated her Sweet 16 birthday at the Eiffel Tower in PARIS! She lived in France for 4 months with us, and absolutely loved it (Paris is where all supermodels go to retire) before returning home with us to Canada.

Right until the end, she gave us strength, happiness and the gift of feeling our hearts soften every time we looked at her.

Thank you to everyone who has kept Jaine in their thoughts. Her final moments were full of peace and love.

I've retired from the jet-setting, champagne and foie gras life of a  supermodel, but there's still some fun stuff to look at over here.

 

Happy Birthday to ME! I turned 15 yesterday and to celebrate, we did a little photo shoot.

At 15, it's important to cultivate an air of respectability.

And make sure they know who's boss. (Hint: the oldest is always boss!)

Getting old has its troubles and uncertainties...

...but don't worry. Make a funny face and have a good laugh, and in no time you'll feel like a puppy again.

Luggage? Vacation? Babysitter?! Samby and I are NOT impressed! Don't be fooled, Samby's smile masks a deep and abiding anger. (August 9, 2009)

(Sadly, this was my last photo with Samby. Two months later, the house guest came over for a visit and chewed off both Samby's ears. The photographer's assistant tried to resuscitate him, but the injury was fatal. RIP, little plastic buddy.)

You close your eyes for one second, and next thing you know, it's 2010!!!

You're probably wondering what happened to the second half of 2009.

The photographer and her assistant went to Scotland -- without me! But that's okay, I got to hang out with a famous author. As soon as the photographer got home, she went back to writing her novel. (Which means she sat in her pajamas all day with a sour look on her face.)

The photographer's assistant taught six, count 'em, six courses last term, but always had time to spend with me. We dragged the photographer out with us when we could, usually without her camera.

After Christmas, my mouth puffed up like a furry balloon, and the vet said I had a bad infection -- ouch! Plus a heart murmur -- oh, dear! I had to have a scary surgery to remove nine teeth -- yeow! But don't worry, I'm on the mend, and starting to feel like my old self.

I'm taking it very slow these days, and I'm not always up for posing, so the photographer will regale you with some photos from the past five months, and we'll post new ones as we take them.

So from the photographer, her trusty assistant, and of course, me (woof!), Happy 2010!

The house guest has returned home. I'll definitely miss having her around. But for now, let's just enjoy this moment of peace and quiet.

10 days of this?!?! Lord help me!

I'm giving Mabel lessons on how to sit still and be lady-like. So far: questionable progress.

Aside from being a little homesick, and sporting a funny hairdo, our house guest, Mabel, seems quite nice.

We have a house guest. In addition to my regular duties, I now have to watch the prisoner, I mean, visitor.

Uh-oh, the photographer's getting arty again.

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.

The photographer's computer is in the shop.

I'm still posing for my photo every day, but the photographer won't be able to process them and post them until her computer comes back.

Why do I keep working with these amateurs? One word: kibble.

The computer is back! The photographer is scrambling to catch up. Though not in the systematic and orderly way I would do it, but in her own hodge-podge, mish-mash, eat dessert before dinner way.

Parliament buildings? Bor-ing.

Whisked away to Victoria! The hotel had a special blanket, bowl and cookies just for me! I think I'll ask for champagne in my water dish.
